I purchased 2 to go with a new TSS-1200 speaker set, because when paired with the speakers they looked very elegant, then I bought 2 more for the rear surrounds because it made my old generic stands look horrible:) Assembly was quick, but a bit tricky to do by yourself as there are several parts that fit together just so when you put the screws in the base. The base is weighted, but the speakers at the top are pretty heavy so it is not something I would recommend around dogs or kids, and I cant comment on stability on thick carpeting. There are small rubber feet to prevent scuffing on hard floors. The speakers fit perfectly into the top, and it looks like a single unit tall column. There is no room however for almost any wire connectors, especially banana plugs.
