Rating : - Don't skimp on cables! After purchasing an Onkyo receiver and a Velodyne subwoofer, I decided to take a chance using a less expensive cable. I received it promptly from Amazon and hooked it up to my subwoofer pre-amp out on my receiver. The Velodyne fired up and sounded tight. After a few minutes of use, however, the woofer started receiving a constant low frequency signal, presumably noise from a poorly shielded cable.
I went to my local electronic store and purchased a a Monster 400SW subwoofer cable. After installing the Monster cable I've had no problems with my woofer. I would not recommend this cable for use with any system. The cable claims to have double shielding, but after my use I don't think it's as well shielded as it claims. The cable is sub-standard in quality. Besides, after you've spent so much money on components, do you really think you should skimp on cables? Read more ... |  |
