Rating : - Great sound, but could be a bit more comfortable I received this as a gift and wasn't sure exactly what to think of it. I do spend many hours per week playing video games, and usually the sofa or other chairs aren't positioned exactly where I want them -- which is right in front of the screen, dead-center. Turning up the stereo also bothered everybody else in the house. This chair allows me to sit exactly where I want, with quick access to sound controls, and the sound literally right under me.
The sound from this chair is excellent. It has a decent-sized ported subwoofer located on the back of the chair. Bass is excellent, if not "rumbling". The stereo speakers are located at the top of the chair, on each side of the headrest. Although they face out, away from the chair, their placement actually creates a decent stereo effect -- similar to wearing headphones, without that "sound in the middle of the head" effect. Volume is quite adequate -- turning the volume all the way up produces virtually no distortion while gaming, and only slight distortion while listening to music. It's great for watching movies or other videos. Additionally, you can actually keep the volume lower during off-hours gaming -- and since the speakers are practically right next to your head, you can still hear everything. The controls include a separate bass adjustment and volume control, an audio input, and an audio output for daisy-chaining more than one chair or connecting it to something else.
The chair is comfortable. Even after over one year, the padding and cushioning has maintained its shape and the chair has remained comfortable, including the headrest. It has a decent curved shape, but I think the chair tends to recline too far when you just sit in it. I end up placing a pillow under the back to help keep it leaning forward; otherwise, I end up leaning forward with no back-support. The armrests are perfectly positioned and make for comfortable gaming.
The downside is the length of the included cables. The audio cable is just long enough for my placement/installation, but I would have preferred something longer. I would recommend finding an extension cable. The chair uses a power supply, and the cable for that is relatively short -- you'll either need to be near an outlet or have an extension cord available. The cables result in a not-so-neat installation and create a trip-hazard.
Overall, the chair has provided many, many hours or reliable enjoyment. I've owned it for over a year, and the material has not split or cracked, and it is in perfect working condition. I recommend this chair for any "console gamer". Read more ... | |
