  • Touch-sensitive technology
  • Top-shell design matches other Apple products
  • Ability to pan images

Product Description:
The Mighty Mouse combines the capability of a multibutton mouse with Apple's signature top-shell design for both form and function. Mighty Mouse's Scroll Ball features miniature sensors that allow you to manipulate what appears on your screen merely by moving your finger. The 360-degrees scrolling perfectly positions to roll smoothly under just one finger. Touch-sensitive technology under Mighty Mouse's seamless top shell detect where you're clicking, transforming your sleek, one-button mouse into a two-button wonder. Pan images in iPhoto, view timelines in iMovie HD and Final Cut Pro, traverse bars in GarageBand and Logic Pro while sipping your morning cup of coffee or typing. Pre-programmed to launch Dashboard, Mighty Mouse's side buttons show you all your open windows in Expose with a squeeze. Mac OS X gives you the capability to choose any application from the intuitive System Preference pane.

I use Apples at school for video editing, and every single one of them has this waste of plastic tethered to them.

First, this is essentially a one button mouse, despite it being described as "multibutton." The right button function is nonexistent, and the side buttons only work when I over-grip the mouse tight enough, but of course not when I actually want them to work.

The scroll button is prohibitively small, and I have yet to find one that works properly except when brand new. At best, most only seem to scroll up - frustrating, considering I tend scroll down more than in any other direction.

The cord is too short and very thin. Yes, it is designed to be plugged into the keyboard, but it is still a poor design, as if they were trying to save a few cents on wire or something, rather than just manufacture a normal length of cord.

All this for $50! You end up paying for looks as well as a daily lesson in keyboard shortcuts just to avoid using it. Why don't they just reverse engineer one of Microsoft's models that sell for half the price, even if they do not look as hip, but at least actually work?
